The second Auckland Garden DesignFest held in November 2013 was an outstanding success, thanks to the support of all those who took this unique opportunity to visit 25 private, professionally designed gardens throughout the city. In doing so they helped the organisers (the Garden Design Society of New Zealand and the Rotary Club of Newmarket) to increase substantially the amount raised for the three children’s charities who are the sole beneficiaries of this event: Garden to Table, Ronald McDonald House and KidsCan.

A special thank you must go to the owners, who participated so generously by allowing an appreciative audience to view their private outdoor sanctuaries, making it a truly enjoyable and inspirational weekend. Many of you will have met their talented designers who, wherever possible, made sure they were in the gardens to explain the reasons behind their designs. Also present in each garden were our helpful volunteers, whose invaluable input made everything run smoothly.
