Design Brief

This design embraces the idea that front gardens should connect to their wider environments and communities. By creating a working veggie garden in the front yard the space has been transformed into a much loved feature of the street - frequented by kids and neighbours who stop to chat when the owners are working in the garden. The shuttered concrete planters respond to the architecture of the house; a beautifully renovated bungalow by architect Megan Edwards.

The back garden is a private family space which is functional and practical. Specimen Himalayan white birch trees and magnolias are under-planted with soft perennial borders and help to create a sense of journey and discovery in this relatively small garden.
