A winding sheltered driveway is met with a modern front entry garden of contrasting plants, textures and colours. Venturing further through the garden, little pockets of planting guide you through, including a restful westerly courtyard and simple water feature. However, the real transformation occurs as you step onto the cliff of a steep lush urban gully which opens up before you.

Built on the volcanic skirts of Maungawhau, I wanted to create a cascade of subtropical planting layered throughout the oasis. Being keen gardeners with a love of art and a real appreciation of design, the clients have asked me to incorporate powerful sculptures amongst the garden beds creating a rich composition.
