Design Brief
This Chatswood property, built in 2004, and designed by Robin Shafer, has formal resort-style planting using a mixture of clipped Buxus microphylla and Port Wine Magnolias (Michelia figo) as a framework, with palms and cycads creating drama. Blocks of pleached Ficus hillii provide remarkable privacy from surrounding houses. A pool courtyard is designed as the centerpiece of the outdoor living. The garden is a progression of spaces linked by paths which lead around the house, gradually revealing different views and living areas. At the rear of the garden is a remnant of bush that the council required to be untouched, blending the garden with the bush reserve beyond.
