Set on the shore of the Tamaki Estuary, this garden is a response to the Balinese style of the house. The distinctly tropical planting style using bromeliads, palms and cycads and the predominance of jewel-like water clearly portray the image of the Tropics. The relaxed poolside living spaces were developed for family gatherings while the pool shallows and relaxed grand steps into the fully tiled pool provide play spaces for grandchildren. The Bale provides a shaded retreat from the sun and the extensive planting of kentia palms and Ficus hillii gives privacy and screening from neighbours. As a result the garden feels like a tropical oasis.
